Cook County releases phone records on Cole caseWednesday, July 29, 2009 Northwest Herald Cook County on Tuesday released the cell phone records of board
President Todd Stroger, his cousin and former Chief Financial Officer
Donna Dunnings, his spokesman Eugene Mullins and former employee Tony
Cole. County officials agreed to release the information after the
Better Government Association filed suit to get the records. BGA
Executive Director Andy Shaw has said he wants to get to the bottom of
the hiring and firing of Cole. Cole was a busboy when Stroger met him
and when he was hired, and Cole was promoted twice before reports
surfaced that he had a felony conviction he didn't disclose when hired.
Dunnings bailed him out of county jail repeatedly on charges of
violating an order of protection involving an ex-girlfriend. The phone
records were to be posted Tuesday night at bettergov.org.
