Officials have launched a
database that features photos of headstones at a suburban Chicago
cemetery where four former workers are accused of digging up graves in
a scheme to resale plots.
The Cook County Sheriff's Office says it created the
Web site so families can search for the headstones of loved ones buried
at Burr Oak Cemetery in Alsip, Ill.
So far, about 10,000 photos can be searched by last name.
Spokeswoman Brittney Blair says the sheriff's office expects to upload about 50,000 more images over the next two weeks.
Sheriff Tom Dart has estimated that more than 300 bodies were disinterred.
