Cook County Forest Preserve District Board President John Stroger has announced that the Forest Preserve District of Cook County has been recognized for providing the area's "Best Bike Trail" by Chicago magazine.

"We thank Chicago magazine for recognizing the North Branch Bike Trail as the "Best Bike Trail" in the area and encourage our visitors to experience each of our eight bicycle trails throughout the County," said Stroger. "We are proud to offer our users this wonderful recreational opportunity and continue to provide many of our region's premier outdoor activities."

The North Branch Bicycle Trail was highlighted in Chicago's August 2004 issue - the "Best of Chicago" edition - which included, according to the magazine, "Chicago's yearly collection of the finest local people, places and things. . ." In naming North Branch as "Best Bike Trail," the article states that the North Branch Bicycle Trail "provides cyclists with a pastoral retreat from the crush of urban roadways." The article continues "along the way, [users] encounter wooded glens, flowering prairies, the Skokie Lagoons and picnic spots galore."

This is the second time in as many years that Chicago Magazine has recognized a District property in their "Best of Chicago" edition.
