MEDIA ADVISORY Grand Opening for Camp Sullivan in Oak Forest
For the first time in 50 years public, family and group camping will be available in the forest preserves. The Forest Preserves of Cook County is opening five new and revitalized campgrounds throughout the summer.
The second campsite; Camp Sullivan opened to the public June 12. An official ribbon cutting for the first phase of the site will take place Saturday. The first training session for the Camping Leadership Immersion Course (CLIC) will also be take place. CLIC camping and leadership skills to group leaders. After the training session is complete, group leaders can bring up to 60 people on camping trips with free use of camping gear.
