Chicago, Illinois.  Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, 13^th District, wants to remind residents in Maine Township that Cook County Assessor James Houlihan is currently accepting property tax appeals for 2005 for those property owners who are not satisfied that their assessment is accurate.  The deadline to submit appeals to Assessor Houlihan’s office is October 3, 2005.

Residents who did or did not file an appeal last year when Maine residents were reassessed are encouraged to do so if they think their property was over assessed.   Residents with questions on the appeal process are encouraged to call Commissioner Suffredin’s Evanston District office at 847-864-1209.  The Commissioner’s staff is also available to schedule individual appointments to answer questions.
