New Trier Township Property Tax SeminarMonday, December 20, 2004 Special to suffredin.org Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, 13th District, announces a property tax seminar for residents of New Trier Township who have received Notices of Proposed Reassessment as part of the Cook County triennial assessment. Residents of this township were last reassessed in 2000.
Property Tax Seminar Wednesday, January 5, 2005 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wilmette Park District Auditorium 3000 Glenview Road, Wilmette
Taxpayers are encouraged to bring their assessment notices with them to the seminar. Staff from Assessor Houlihan and Commissioner Suffredin's offices will be present to answer individual questions regarding assessment appeals and exemptions.
The seminar will include general information on the assessment process, avenues for assessment appeals, resources available for verifying an assessed value is fair and accurate and important property tax exemptions that are available to Cook County residents. The deadline for New Trier Township property owners to submit appeals to the Cook County Assessor's office is January 19, 2005.
"I encourage New Trier Township homeowners to participate in the seminar to learn about the property tax system and the appeal process to possibly lessen the impact the assessment may have on their tax bills," stated Commissioner Suffredin.
Residents who would like more information on the property tax seminar may contact Commissioner Suffredin's office at 847-864-1209.
In addition, Commissioner Suffredin's district office, 820 Davis Street, Evanston, is open to assist taxpayers in person by appointment, Monday - Friday, 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. Assistance on Saturday mornings is available by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call the Commissioner's office at 847-864-1209.
Questions about the reassessment notice and appeal process can also be directed to Assessor Houlihan's office at 312-603-5300 or New Trier Township Assessor Kathleen Almond at 847-446-8200.
