Compliance with Restore Illinois Mitigation and penalties for failure to complyMonday, November 30, 2020
On Nov. 6, 2020, the Cook County Department of Public Health issuedMitigation Order2020-1 authorizing CCDPH, municipalities and local law enforcement to enforce compliance with Restore Illinois MitigationGuidancefor restaurants, bars and other businesses where people congregate indoors. In addition, on November 18, Governor Pritzker issued State of Illinois Executive Order Number 73: “In response to the recent surge of cases across Illinois, all regions of the State have triggered additional mitigation strategies. Tier 3 Mitigations aim to limit gatherings and encourage people to stay home to the greatest extent possible, while allowing most industries to continue operating at significantly reduced levels”. The Mitigation Order 2020-1 is in complete alignment with the Governor’s Executive Order.
Violations of the Cook County Order are subject to the penalties set forth in the Cook County, Illinois, Code of Ordinances Sec. 38-38, including arrest, a fine of $1,000 per offense, and further actions.
Over the last two weeks our Environmental Health Services Unit inspectors have responded to complaints and documented numerous violations of this order, and have issued citations. This work is on-going in an effort to decrease public social gatherings leading to increased cases of COVID-19 infection in our communities.
Below is the link to the list of establishments cited forviolation of the orderand required to comply with state guidelines immediately for the safety of patrons, staff and the community. This list will be updated Tuesdays and Thursday at 4 p.m. and establishments that have come into compliance will be removed from the list.
