Former Cook County Jail correctional officer gets probation in pot case Wednesday, July 18, 2012 Chicago Sun-Times by RUMMANA HUSSAIN A former Cook County Jail correctional officer was sentenced to two years probation Wednesday for trying to smuggle drugs into the jail complex.
Kenneth Crawford, who had marijuana hidden in his boot and the trunk of his car in the 2010 incident received the sentence after he pleaded guilty to official misconduct and possession of cannabis in a penal institution. K9 Specialist Pascal Waller and his dog Butkus, a rescued pit bull, as well as K9 Specialist Eric Siciliano and his dog Honza, a German shepherd, were credited with the search of the drugs. Crawford, now 35, had worked for the sheriff’s office for four years before his arrest. He was suspended without pay in March 2010, according to sheriff’s spokesman Frank Bilecki. He was fired later that year in November, Bilecki said.
